mentor wrap up

Dear blog this is my last blog to wrap up what I have experience from my mentoring. I have spent twenty-five complete hours with a mentor and have found out a harbor masters job is quit hard to do. working on the docks and keeping things clean wasn't as hard as all the paper work that go's with the job. at the beginning of every month my mentor tim had to deal with all the billing process for each boat that is at that harbor. I had a lot of experience with my social skills and talking to everyone that lives on there boats. I also got to experience how the wiring works on the docks and the traffic ways on the water. Working on boats was fun but hard because I hade to wash five different boats and it was a lot of work but fun. The funest part of the mentoring was going on walks with my mentor to patrol the area for thing that are not in place or vandalism. On those walks though I got learn a lot of history such as the liberty ship which was used in WWII and learning about the old fueling station and docking station the navy used during that war as well. .In all of the experience I learned I would not want to make harbor master as my career goal but it was fun learning about it and obtaining a lot of knowledge about what it takes to be a harbor master

mentor final day

2hours done 25hours complete

Dear blog on may 11th I met with my mentor for the last day at 8:30 in the morning and left at 10:30 to finish the last two hours that remained for the mentoring. When I went in in the morning we started the day off on evaluating my experiences with him as a harbor master. We as well talked about my career goals and how to go about them to succeed in them. The final thing we did was talk about how the harbor masters job may not be a huge job every one would want but if you like being around the water and people then it is a great job.

Mentor 4th day

3hours done 18hours complete

Dear blog on March 6th i met up with my mentor  at 1:00pm and i finished with him at 4:00pm. Tim and i had to go around the docks and clean them, for it is also a harbor masters job to keep the docks clean. He like to keep it nice and clean for there are many people that always pass by it and it looks better for the place to always look good, and to show how nice looking it is with all the boats around. That may not have been the best day there but i have a great time with tim as he explains how thing run around the harbor and meet a lot of new people.

Tim and I had to patrol around the docks and that marina area to find out if there are anyguests that souldnt park in any of the spots they shouldnt and to make sure things are clean around the area . As we did the scouting he told me some intresting stories like the old docking and fueling station. The fueling and docking station was used in wwll by the navy.there is one inportant boat that built there called the liberty. Now today the old fuelingdock sits there and falling to part. The the docking station used for the liberty and for new ships were built were sent out. When it was done I did another 5 hours and now have 15 gours done
