mentor post 5

for this week I did not meet up with my mentor for he is in a competition for scotige men. this week I started more on my paper and have found better facts to support the military spendings. next Saturday my mentor tim and I plan to meet up again and spend 5 hours as we planned. he mentioned to me that we are going to be taking out the boat and I shall learn more about being on the water and what it takes to be a harbor master.

Mentor 4th day

3hours done 18hours complete

Dear blog on March 6th i met up with my mentor  at 1:00pm and i finished with him at 4:00pm. Tim and i had to go around the docks and clean them, for it is also a harbor masters job to keep the docks clean. He like to keep it nice and clean for there are many people that always pass by it and it looks better for the place to always look good, and to show how nice looking it is with all the boats around. That may not have been the best day there but i have a great time with tim as he explains how thing run around the harbor and meet a lot of new people.

Dear blog I have met up with tim again on febuary 16. Tim and I had to patrol around the docks and that marina area to find out if there are anyguests that souldnt park in any of the spots they shouldnt and to make sure things are clean around the area . As we did the scouting he told me some intresting stories like the old docking and fueling station. The fueling and docking station was used in wwll by the navy.there is one inportant boat that built there called the liberty. Now today the old fuelingdock sits there and falling to part. The the docking station used for the liberty and for new ships were built were sent out. When it was done I did another 5 hours and now have 15 gours done

Dear blog I met up with my mentor tim on febuary nineth and him and were washing four diffrent boats. Him and I washed two sail boats a house boat and a bigger boat that is a little smaller than a yhat. After all that hard work it was 1:30 and did 5 hours of work. Now I have ten hours done all together

Dear blog I started on february 2nd and I met up with my mentor at the harbor masters at oaster point. My mentors name is tim and also had served 5 years in the coast guard befor he was a harbor master. Tim also was a medic in the ciast guard. That day that day I met up with him we did 5 hours of mentoring and he had taught me a lot in that anount of time.he showed me how to read the tide books for out in ouster point. You have add an extra hour that it said in the tide book for the tides coming in and out. Tim also showed me how to read all the meeters on the docks for each individual boat. The meeters show how much energy the boats use for each month to pay the bill for it. My mentor also showed me how to read the maps for the water freeways and were the big boats must stay in a certain current so that the do not bottom out on the dirt on low tides. The last thing I learned was that the bouwees in the water over there are maintained by that docks harbor mastwr and when exating the green light is on the right side and when coming in the red light is on the right

President Obama says he won’t agree to spending cuts in return for Republicans’ raising the debt ceiling.The debt ceiling ought to be raised because nobody has a plan to eliminate the deficit immediately, and there is no popular support for doing what that would take.Third, the Federal Reserve should pledge to hold nominal income growth steady, since that would counteract any shock to consumer confidence.As Russ K has said in the past, the danger posed by the fiscal cliff is not solely whether we go over the side or not – it also matters what shape our economy is in before the plunge. Last week’s jobs report may have seemed like good news for the latter, but unfortunately a closer look at the numbers revealed a mixed. The Indy Star reported that a recent poll showed Hoosiers were evenly split on the issue of marriage with 45 percent favoring same sex marriage and 45 percent opposing it. My capstone project I am doing job shadowing and I am going to be looking for a mentor for the Coast Guard. So far I have successfully created my letter to my mentor and now I must try to contact one for there approval to be a mentor for me. I am hoping to learn a lot from job shadowing for I am interested in the Coast Guard and I hope to do it as a career. I hope to learn what it means to be a Coast Guard officer and what it takes to do the job. I am also interested in what their lives are like when they are on the water either dong drug busts or search and rescue. I am also interested how do they train in most of these things. well that is at far as i have gotten in my capstone project so I will see you guys later. Clay Wayman
